Preferences

DAEMON Tools Lite preferences window consists of six tabs which can help you to customize your DAEMON Tools Lite.

General Tab

  • Autostart - Automatically starts DAEMON Tools Lite on Windows startup.

Note: This only affects the DAEMON Tools Lite tray icon. Virtual drives remain installed after reboot.

  • Automount - If this option is enabled, DAEMON Tools Lite will automatically mount images that were mounted before system restart. Automount will work even if Autostart option is disabled.
  • Check for update monthly - If it is enabled, DAEMON Tools Lite will check for updates monthly.
  • Image InUse Check - If the option is enabled, DAEMON Tools Lite blocks umounting option while image is in use. If you try to unmount image with this option is enabled during copying information from the image, you will get the next warning:
  • Clicking Abort will cancel unmount operation. Retry will retry to unmount image. Clicking Ignore will ignore this message and unmount the image. By clicking Ignore you will lose access to all data that are on the image.
  • Secure mode - If secure mode is enabled, all interactions between other software and DAEMON Tools Lite (such as command line calls to unmount an image) must be confirmed by the user.
  • Enable command line options – Enables advanced functionality that allows you to work with main DAEMON Tools Lite functionalities from command promt.
  • Language - Changes DAEMON Tools Lite's interface language.

  • Mount on the first empty device - Mounts an image to the first empty device from device 0 to device 3. Selected image will be mounted to device 0 in case all the devices are busy. In case the option is disabled, the image will be mounted to device 0.

    • Port - port number
  • Enable authentication - Enables the authentication on the proxy server:
    • User name - user name on proxy server
    • Password - password on proxy server

Advanced Tab

  • RMPS - Most modern protected discs are manufactured in such a way that they cannot be duplicated on a CD-R/DVD-R easily because burning devices are not capable to record all protection information on usual media. To create personal backups of such discs a special technique was developed called Removable Media Physical Signature (RMPS): the burning application extracts additional information from the image and appends it to the normal data on the CD-R/DVD-R via special signature written to disc during burning process. At the same time label of media is modified to 'NEEDS EMULATION' or 'NEEDS RMPS...' to indicate that for proper operation RMPS emulation must be activated. If you encounter such a disc you need enable RMPS emulation in DAEMON Tools. Once RMPS emulation is activated you need to eject and reinsert disc: if it is recognized then you will see the original disc's label and all additional data from original image will be emulated by DAEMON Tools Lite. The only burning application today which can create RMPS discs is Alcohol 120% but this functionality may be added to other applications soon. RMPS is effective for the following protections: StarForce, SecuROM (latest with DPM information), CD/DVD-Cops, ProtectCD 5 / ProtectDisc 7, SafeDisc (latest with weak sectors)
  • SafeDisc, SecuROM, LaserLock - Some CD writers cannot write RAW data or complete subchannel data needed for these copy protections. If a 1:1 image does not work because of these limitations, activate the appropriate emulation for DAEMON Tools Lite to work around this limitation
